At Tourixt, your safety and privacy are our highest priorities. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use the Tourixt mobile application and website (the "Service").

By using the Service, you consent to the collection and processing of information necessary to provide and improve the Service. If you do not agree with this policy, please do not use the Service.

Information We Collect

We collect the following categories of information:

Name, username, email address, phone number, profile information, and nationality.

location_onLocation Data

Precise or approximate geolocation (when permission is granted) to provide scam alerts, price data features, and relevant travel intelligence.

devicesDevice Information

Device model, operating system, unique device identifiers, and mobile network information.

bar_chartUsage Analytics

Features used, screens viewed, search queries, crash logs, and session duration.

rate_reviewUser‑Submitted Content

Reviews, scam reports, price updates, photos, comments, and recommendations.

cloud_syncInformation from Third Parties

Social media login data (when you log in via Google or Apple) and publicly available sources to supplement price data.

Location Services

With your permission, we collect precise or approximate location to provide scam alerts, price data features, and relevant information. You can disable location services in your device settings at any time, but some features may not work properly. Background location access is strictly opt‑in and used solely for emergency proximity alerts.

How We Share Information

We do not sell your personal information. We share information only in the following circumstances:

  • With your consent: When you submit a public scam report, your username and report details (excluding contact info if you choose anonymous) become visible to other users.
  • Service providers: Trusted third parties that assist with hosting, analytics, push notifications, customer support, and cloud storage. They are contractually bound to protect your data and may not use it for other purposes.
  • Legal compliance: When required by law, court order, or governmental regulation.
  • Emergency situations: To protect the vital interests of you or another person.
  • Business transfers: In connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, your data may be transferred as a business asset.

Data Retention

We retain your personal information as long as your account is active or as needed to provide services. If you permanently delete your account, we will delete or anonymise your information within 90 days, except where we are required to retain it for legal, fraud prevention, or legitimate business purposes. Anonymised scam reports may remain to protect future travellers. Deactivated accounts are retained to allow easy reactivation (see next section).

Account Deactivation & Deletion

You have full control over your account status. You can manage it directly in the Tourixt app:

  1. Open the app and go to your Profile.
  2. Tap Settings.
  3. Select Delete Account.
  4. You will be presented with two choices:
    • Deactivate Account — temporarily suspend your profile. Your content is hidden from other users, but your data is preserved so you can reactivate anytime.
    • Permanently Delete Account — erase your account and all associated personal information. This action is irreversible.
  5. Confirm your choice by entering your password.

After deactivation, you can reactivate your account simply by logging back in with your credentials. Permanent deletion will remove your data within 90 days, except anonymised scam reports which may be kept to protect the community.

Data Security

We implement reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect your information, including:

  • Encryption in transit using TLS (Transport Layer Security)
  • Encryption at rest for stored data
  • Access controls restricting who can view sensitive data
  • Regular security audits to identify and address vulnerabilities

Important: No method of transmission over the internet or electronic storage is 100% secure. While we strive to use commercially acceptable means to protect your data, we cannot guarantee absolute security.

International Data Transfers

Data may be stored or processed on servers located outside your country of residence, including in the European Union, United States, and other jurisdictions. For transfers from the EEA/UK, we rely on appropriate safeguards such as Standard Contractual Clauses to ensure your data receives an adequate level of protection.

Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this policy from time to time. We will notify you of material changes via the App or email. Your continued use after the effective date constitutes acceptance of the revised policy. We recommend reviewing this page periodically for updates.

Depending on your location (e.g., GDPR for EEA/UK, CCPA for California), you may have the right to:
